What is Music Marketing?

June 7, 2014

The music industry is drastically changing.  Record labels are not promoting artists like they used to. If you are trying to get “discovered” you should get in line.  These days record executives are often looking for an artist that comes with their own built in “Business”. What I mean is that if you don’t have your music for sale, a loyal following, an impressive web presence, and everything in between, then the chances of you getting signed are slim to none.

The good news for you is that you really don’t need the record executive any more.  You don’t need to get a record deal.  It has never been easier to earn a living with your music, if you are smart about it. This goes for artists, bands, or even people creating background music tracks and selling them online.

So don’t give up.  Go out and create your own small business brand.  If you want to get signed to a record deal, then you will have the power to choose better terms.  If you just want to make a living one your own terms in the industry, then go out and do it!
